Richard van de Lagemaat
Richard van de Lagemaat is the founder and director of InThinking an innovative educational consultancy service which provides quality training for teachers & students in IB schools. With nearly thirty years experience, Richard taught in international schools in the United Kingdom, Italy, Canada and Hong Kong; and he been actively involved in teacher training and curriculum development since 1988. He has run workshops and seminars for teachers and students in fifty countries and is a regular speaker at educational conferences. Richard has a Masters degree from the University of Oxford and a PhD in philosophy from the University of Warwick. His book Theory of Knowledge for the IB Diploma is published by Cambridge University Press and has sold more than 60,000 copies. Richard has been running the Think! course since 1989.
Karin Wakeham
Karin Wakeham has taught a wide range of social science subjects at both school and university level. She is currently attached to Linköping University in Sweden and she is the Events Manager of InThinking. Karin is the organisational brain behind the Think! course on which she also teaches. This is her nineth year with the course.
Gary Hunt
A highly experienced and versatile educator, Gary currently teaches Philosophy, English and Theory of Knowledge at Tikkurilan Lukio, IB World School, Helsinki, Finland. Gary holds a Masters degree from the University of Sussex and he has served as a Theory of Knowlege examiner for the International Baccalaureate. Hugely popular with students, this is Gary's fifth year on the Think! course.
Jean Marc Pascal
Jean-Marc holds degrees from the universities of Paris (Sorbonne) and London (UCL). He has taught Philosophy at Sherborne School (UK) for over 20 years and is currently serving as an examiner for both IB and A level Philosophy. He has previously led Philosophy workshops on Nietzsche and Sartre and has co-authored an A Level Philosophy textbook for Routledge. This is Jean-Marc's second year on the Think! course.
Bill Roberts
A highly experienced TOK teacher & workshop leader, who is currently Deputy Chief Assessor for the Subject, Bill has an Engineering degree from Oxford University, a Masters degree in Guidance and Counselling, and a PhD in Education. During his 23 year teaching career, Bill taught Mathematics & TOK in Egypt and Tanzania. Bill currently combines a free-lance career with a lecturing position at the University of Newcastle.
GUEST LECTURERS
Dinos Aristidou
Dinos Aristidou is a freelance artist / consultant / workshop leader based in the UK. Formerly head of Performing Arts at Vienna International School, he has worked extensively with the IBO in Diploma Theatre and the Middle Years Programme. A highly experienced IB workshop leader and school consultant, he has been actively involved in curriculum development in both areas. Dinos writes and directs, and is currently developing models of good arts practice for teachers, arts organisations and local education authorities in the UK as well as working as trainer for the new Diploma.
Andrew Maclehose
Andrew Maclehose holds degrees from the universities of Oxford, London, and Wales, and has at various times taught IB Economics, History, Philosophy, Business and Theory of Knowledge. He has served as a teacher, IB Co-ordinator, Principal, or Headmaster at schools in seven countries, given lectures and workshops in 20 others, and organised numerous IB conferences and summer schools for students and teachers. He was responsible for the introduction of the IB into two large schools, and has often been invited by schools to consult on the introduction or management of early years of the IB.
